The Mid-term and Completion Assessment

On 14th June, 2018, the Panel meeting of the mid-term and completion assessment for UIC Research Grant projects was held. Professors and Associate Professors from academic units and research centres are invited to take part in the assessment.

This year, 48 projects underwent the assessment, including 20 from Science & Technology, 19 from Humanities & Social Sciences and 9 from Business & Management. Out of the 29 projects under completion assessment, the assessment panels identified 4 projects (14%) as having an excellent result and 5 projects (17%) as having a good result. Taken together, 31% of the projects shows a significant scientific advance, while 6 projects (21%) delivered an incremental scientific contribution. 6 projects (20%) were rated as pending which additional evidence is requested for further assessment. There were 8 projects (28%) applied for extension and 7 of them were approved in consideration of satisfactory achievement presented.

Graduate School and Research Office carried out the mid-term and completion assessment in June each year. The mid-term assessment reviews the research progress, achievement obtained to date and utilization of the grant specified in research proposal. While the completion assessment focuses on the achievement, research qualities, impact and utilization of grant.
