Guidelines of the Special Funding for Academic Conference



In order to encourage the faculty and staff of our faculty member to participate in academic conference for understand the development of academic frontiers, and communicate with researchers outside the campus, UIC has earmarked a special fund to support participation in domestic or overseas conferences.



I. Eligibility:



All full-time faculty members appointed assistant professor or above are eligible to apply for maximum one time per academic year. Staff members who have been awarded with Start-up Fund are ineligible to apply for further support from the special funding for academic conference in order to avoid enjoying double benefits



II. Conference Supported



Influential international conference (overseas/domestic)



III. Funding Policy


(1)Transportation fee


The cost of round-trip tickets for air/ferry /high-speed rail are reimbursable, but the tickets are economy class only. The transportation fee caused on the way to airport/port/train station will not be covered on the understanding that a daily allowance will be provided.

Support in full.



(3) Accommodation

2) Accommodation allowance

Accommodation allowance (50% of the corresponding standard) will be provided to staff who does not stay at hotel but seeks temporary lodging at relatives or friends.



(4) Daily allowance (for meals and local transportation):

(5) Counted conference time


Start from the arrival date shows on the air ticket or the date when the Conference starts (NB: if it is not the same day, the later date will be counted), and end from the departure date on the air ticket or the date when the conference ends (NB: if it is not the same day, the earlier date will be counted). The above way is used to calculate the number of attending days, which is convenient to calculate the number of attending days and reimburse the expenses of accommodation and meals. In regard to the long haul flight time, we will count extra two days of the overseas conference for covering the daily allowance.




IV. Endorsement


Applications should be submitted to the Program Director and Dean concerned for approval before submitting to RDKTO (AD301-R26) for endorsement. The related costs can be reimbursed in accordance with the funding policy after approval.




V. Required Application Meterials


1) Invitation letter;

2) Website of the conference;

3) Abstract of the conference paper (the full paper is supposed to be submitted to RDKTO when reimburse the conference expenditures); or poster




VI. Application Period

Open for application all year round.
